My Philosophy

I believe that birth is best left alone. Although there are special circumstances that may require an alternate plan, these are used far too often in the medical setting of birth.  Women and babies are entitled to a better birth experience.  We are entitled to informed consent and refusal as well as evidence based care.

This does not mean that I believe you should be fighting with your Midwife or Doctor.  It means that we meet these special circumstances with calm conversation.

When women are educated they can make choices for themselves and their baby.  These choices range from choosing the birthing space where you feel most comfortable to knowing the questions to ask a provider to ensure it will be a good fit during labor.

My Story

I am a mom, a real person who truly wants to help other moms have a better birth. When I became a mom, I knew I wanted a birth that was unmedicated. I knew this only because my own mother had always told me that it was what she experienced.  I was told from early on that it was hard work but well worth it.   I was blessed to have this positive talk about birth from early on.  It is important for me to pass that positive talk to other women.

In my 3 births I have experienced a pain free birth, birth trauma and cesarean, and a Homebirth after Cesarean. I have had a variety of experiences and I continue to learn more about birth and ways to help women process and prepare for birth.

My blog posts go into more detail of these 3 births.
